Alana completed a B.Sc. in physics at the University of Montreal and a M.Sc. in medical physics at McGill University. She is currently pursuing a dual Ph.D. in physics at McGill University and University of Bordeaux.

Alana is developing a novel applicator equipped with a magnetic resonance imaging compatible dynamically-rotating shield for intensity-modulated endorectal brachytherapy. Treatments with the new applicator will ensure optimal irradiation of the tumor while reducing the dose received by the surrounding healthy tissue, which will improve the curative potential of this treatment while simultaneously reducing toxicity and improving patient’s quality of life.
