Azin is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University under supervision of Dr. Shirin Abbasinejad Enger. Azin received her B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto. Her research focus during the M.Sc. studies was to investigate physiological aspects of functional MRI. For her PhD, she decided to pursue radiation oncology physics.

Current Project:
During her Ph.D. studies, Azin will develop a Monte Carlo based dose calculation package able to model and simulate the Xoft electronic brachytherapy source to calculate its spectrum. The Monte Carlo software will further be developed to validate a novel applicator for treatment of rectal cancer with Xoft electronic brachytherapy source and perform patient specific dosimetry where differences in dose to water and dose to medium will be investigated and compared. The software package will also be used in further development of applicators to be used combined with different electronic brachytherapy sources.
