Bio
Prof. Remi Nout currently heads the department of Radiotherapy of the Erasmus Medical Center, University Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. As clinician his special interests are the treatment of gynaecological cancers, image guided radiotherapy and brachytherapy. As researcher he is involved in the PORTEC study group of which results of the randomised PORTEC-1 and PORTEC-2 trials form the basis of his PhD thesis.
He is a senior researcher within the EMBRACE studies on image guided brachytherapy for cervical cancer. He was awarded with a clinical fellowship of the Dutch Cancer Society on image guided brachytherapy for gynaecological cancers and rectal cancers. Within GEC ESTRO GYN group he chairs a subcommittee that is working on the implementation of image guided brachytherapy concepts for vaginal cancer. He is past radiation representative in the council of the International Society of Gynaecological Cancer (IGCS), is chair of the Dutch Gynaecological Oncology Group and of the Dutch Platform for Radiotherapy of Gynaecological Malignancies. As ESTRO representative has been involved in recent multidisciplinary European Guidelines for endometrial cancer (ESGO-ESMO-ESTRO) and cervical cancer (ESGO-ESTRO-ESP), and is chairing a multidisciplinary guideline for vaginal cancer. He is faculty of the ESTRO course for gynaecological cancer and is the ESTRO lead for a new course in collaboration with ESGO on the multidisciplinary management of cervical cancer.
